The not-to-be-missed crossing of the Baie de Somme with a guide, lasting around 2 hours and 45 minutes.

⚠️ Please note that the return journey to Le Crotoy is not included and that you will have to plan it yourself, eventually via the Baie de Somme railway.
Course of events
Please allow around 3 hours for the whole experience.
- Meeting with the guide at Le Crotoy locks, 15 minutes before the start of the activity (paying car park)
- Presentation and briefing on the activity and safety instructions (approx. 10 minutes)
- Departure for a 2-hour and 45-minute crossing of the Baie de Somme:
- walk of around 30 minutes, reading the landscape before arriving at the place where you will have to put your feet in the water
- a gradual walk to the heart of the Baie de Somme between firm sand, damp sand and sometimes light mud (30 to 40 minutes)
- crossing a shallow inlet, conditions permitting, with explanations of currents and channel formation (10 to 15 minutes)
- walk to the sandbanks with birdwatching and reading the tracks in the sand (approx. 30 minutes)
- a 10-minute break in the middle of the bay to enjoy the panorama and take photos
- 30 to 40-minute walk to the finish at Saint-Valery-sur-Somme
- Once you have arrived, debriefing of the experience with local recommendations if you wish and end of the activity (return journey to Le Crotoy to be organised by yourself, eventually via the Baie de Somme railway)

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the activity.
A minimum of 4 participants is required to run this activity.

That's why the local guides of Promenade en Baie are offering you the chance to cross the Baie de Somme from Le Crotoy towards Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, passing through the heart of the bay. This immersive walk of around 7 km will not only allow you to enjoy the superb scenery of this environment between land and sea, but also to learn more about it thanks to the expertise of the guides. For around 2 hours and 45 minutes, this hike from Le Crotoy to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme will immerse you in the Baie de Somme. You will have the pleasure of walking over a variety of terrain, including firm sand, damp sand and light mud, and if conditions allow, you may even cross a shallow inlet. There will be several breaks along the way, allowing you to take full advantage of the ever-changing tidal landscape. If you are lucky, you might even spot seals, the bay's most famous inhabitants, basking on a sandbank! Many seabirds are also present, as this unspoilt environment offers them everything they need to flourish in complete freedom.
