Course of events
Please allow around 2.5 hours for the whole experience.
- Meeting with the guide at the Maye car park, 15 minutes before the start of the activity (free parking)
- Distribution of shore foraging equipment
- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- Departure for a 2 to 2.5-hour discovery of shellfish foraging in the Baie de Somme:
- walk to the foreshore with explanations about the tides, the landscape and the regulations governing the nature reserve (10 to 15 minutes)
- once in the foraging area, explanations on how to locate shellfish in the ground (approx. 10 minutes)
- shellfish foraging as you slowly make your way through the area and chat with your guide (45 minutes to 1 hour)
- return walk with a stop at the salt meadows to pick up some plants
- Back at the car park, debriefing of the experience with advice on how to preserve or prepare your shellfish harvest
- Return of equipment and end of activity
