Discover the incredible Northern Lights on this evening self-drive dog sledding excursion in Alta!

Alta is a town located within the Arctic Circle in the north of Norway. It is known for its stunning natural landscapes, rich history, and as a prime location for viewing the Northern Lights!

The dog sledding adventure begins at the meeting point in Alta, where you’ll be picked up in a comfortable minivan and driven to the activity starting point at Gargia Lodge. The lodge is located beside Gargia Forest, a natural wilderness area near the town of Alta. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the certified instructor and receive your warm Arctic clothing. Then, the guide will take you through a safety briefing and instructions for dog sledding. No previous experience is required!

You’ll set up the sled and meet your own team of adorable Huskies. Each sled will be shared in pairs, with one driver and one passenger and the chance to switch midway. In the evening light, you’ll set off from the pine forest up to the stunning Finnmarksvidda plateau. This mountain offers a vast open space for the dogs to run.

As the enthusiast Huskies pull you through the snowy wilderness, you’ll be treated to the glorious Arctic sky. Away from the city lights, the Northern Lights are more likely to appear! If you’re lucky, you’ll witness the phenomenal dance of the Aurora Borealis. At the end of the excursion, you’ll return to Gargia Lodge. Hot coffee and tea will be served to warm you up as the guide shares stories about dog sledding and the Northern Lights. Then, you’ll be driven back to the starting point in Alta.

Experience the magical winter wonderland of Norway on this Northern Lights self-drive dog sledding excursion in Alta!
