Surfing in Newquay is a sensory journey, defined by the cool Atlantic breeze, the salt tang in the air, and the ever-changing play of light on the water. Sessions typically last from one to two hours, with instructors guiding you through the basics on gentle whitewater or helping you refine your technique on clean, peeling waves. The coastline here is varied—broad sandy beaches framed by rugged cliffs, tidal pools, and rocky outcrops—offering both sheltered spots for beginners and more exposed breaks for those seeking a challenge. The sound of breaking waves mingles with the distant call of seabirds, while the water’s temperature, bracing yet invigorating, sharpens your senses. Between the exhilaration of catching your first wave and the calm of floating beyond the break, Newquay’s surf scene offers a balance of action and tranquillity.

Local surf instructors in Newquay are passionate professionals, deeply rooted in the region’s outdoor culture. Intermediate and advanced surfers will find plenty of opportunities to test their skills on larger swells and more technical breaks. A great activity with a variety of activities within it. Did a lot of paddling, saw some seals, explored the caves and played some games using the SUP. Even got some tour information from Rosie, our guide.
