Montréal transforms each winter into a luminous playground, where snowshoeing offers a unique way to discover the city’s vibrant outdoor spirit. Nestled on an island in the St. Lawrence River, Montréal is surrounded by a mosaic of parks, forests, and riverside trails that come alive under a blanket of snow. The city’s iconic Mount Royal, with its sweeping views and wooded slopes, becomes a haven for winter explorers, while nearby green spaces like Parc Jean-Drapeau and the expansive Île de la Visitation provide tranquil escapes from urban life. Snowshoeing here is more than a sport—it is an invitation to experience the city’s crisp winter air, the gentle crunch of fresh powder underfoot, and the soft glow of sunlight filtering through bare branches.

Embarking on a snowshoeing adventure in Montréal reveals a landscape shaped by both nature and culture. Typical routes wind through the rolling terrain of Mount Royal Park, where gentle ascents reward you with panoramic vistas of the city skyline and the distant Laurentian Mountains. Trails vary in length and difficulty, from leisurely one-hour loops along riverbanks to more challenging circuits that weave through dense forests and open meadows. The sensation is both invigorating and meditative: the rhythmic sound of snowshoes, the cool touch of winter air on your cheeks, and the subtle scent of pine mingling with the city’s energy. Whether you seek the quiet solitude of dawn or the lively atmosphere of twilight excursions, Montréal’s snowshoeing routes offer a dynamic blend of action and tranquillity.

Fantastic, unique activity. Learned a lot, beautiful scenery and got to spend a lot of time with the dogs. The guides were so kind and helpful. The dogs were really well cared for. Nice touches with hot chocolate or warm spiced wine at the end of the adventure.

Such an amazing experience! Unlike anything we have ever done before. We did the dog sledding at Les Aventures Liguoriennes on a recommendation and couldn't have been happier that we did! Recommend 100%!
