Interview with an affiliate: Travelling is discovering

Arnau, from La Garriga, is an adventurous nature and photography lover. In 2015 he decided to start his blog Viajar es descubrir and last year he became a Manawa affiliate. Since then we have been collaborating on different destinations suitable for outdoor adventures!

Why did you create Travelling is Discovering?

When I started planning my first independent trips, I really enjoyed the process by reading travel blogs. But I also saw that in Spanish there was little information about nature destinations and with details about excursions, where to see wild animals... So I decided to create Viajar es descubrir to share my experience and help other travellers with similar tastes to mine.

Why did you join the Manawa affiliate programme?

Manawa's catalogue of activities is very much in line with what I look for when I travel: contact with nature. I realised that on Manawa there were many unique activities that don't appear on other platforms, and that they were exactly the ones I had done and talked about in my blog. That's why I saw a good opportunity to monetise my content, and I can already say that it was a great success, because it not only allows me to generate income, but also to recommend activities that I really believe in and enjoy.

What are your favourite destinations for outdoor activities?

Within Europe, Norway and Slovenia are two destinations I love. They are ideal for hiking and also have unique wildlife. In Norway, I love the Lofoten Islands, where you can sail through unique fjords like the Trollfjord, see aurora borealis or sail in search of whales and killer whales. On the other hand, Slovenia, with its crystal-clear lakes and national parks, is a perfect destination for hiking and adventure activities, such as rafting the turquoise waters of the Soča River. In the rest of the world, although it is very difficult for me to choose and my opinion changes constantly, right now I would choose South Africa, for the possibility of going on self-drive safaris and the coast of the south of the country, where you can swim with sea lions.

What is your favourite destination among the ones you visited?

Apart from those I have already mentioned, Botswana is a country that stole my heart. There are still untouched corners such as the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert, and being able to observe wildlife in its natural habitat is a unique experience. The feeling of being in such a remote and preserved environment, where nature takes its course in such an authentic way, is indescribable.

One of Botswana's must-see places is Chobe National Park, home to one of the largest elephant populations on the planet. Besides 4WD safaris, you can also go on boat safaris, a completely different experience.

Of all the activities offered by Manawa, which is your favourite?

One of my favourites is snorkelling with whales in Reunion Island. It is undoubtedly one of the most magical experiences I have ever had on a trip. To be able to be in the water so close to these majestic animals and feel their presence so close is something I will never forget. It is an activity that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a deep connection with marine life.

For you, what are the advantages of the Manawa affiliate programme?

One of the great advantages of the Manada membership programme is its catalogue of activities, which offers proposals focused on enjoying nature and the outdoors, which coincides exactly with the type of trips I do.

In addition, it helps me a lot that Manawa knows my content and makes me proposals for activities that fit with what I do. In addition, the affiliation platform is simple and clear, and it is very easy to track my progress within the programme.

And finally, which destination is next on your list?

Right now I am on a long journey through South America. I have been travelling for almost eight months now, so far through Chile, Argentina and Brazil. My next destination on this route will probably be Peru, also a destination with a lot of nature and where I hope to enjoy a lot.
