Course of events
You should plan to spend around 2.5 hours on this activity with 2 hours of cross-country skiing:
- Arrival at the meeting point in Charlottelund parking area at least 15 minutes before the start of the experience
- Introduction to your instructor
- Check-in
- Equipment distribution
- 10 to 15-minute walk to the skiing area
- Gear up
- 20-minute safety and itinerary briefing, and learning how to use the skis
- 30 to 40-minute warm-up and ski practice at a calm pace
- 20-minute ski trail toward Prestvannet
- 20-minute break
- Warm drinks, snacks, and photos
- 30 to 40-minute return to the starting point of the experience andoptional progression (steep sections, extra loop, or free skiing time)
- 10 to 15-minute walk back to the meeting point
- Equipment return
- Debrief and end of the activity

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

To arrive at the meeting point, you can take your own car, and there will be free parking on-site. You can also take bus 26 to “Skogly”, then walk approximately 3 minutes to the meeting point.

On the day of your cross-country skiing experience from Tromsø, you'll need to meet your expert Tromsø Adventures instructor at the parking area of the Charottenlund Aktivitetspark, at least 15 minutes before the start of the experience. To arrive there, you can bring your own car and use the free parking, or you can take bus 26 to “Skogly”, then walk approximately 3 minutes to the meeting point. There, you will receive a short introduction to the experience and the skis, boots, and poles you'll be using, which will be chosen thinking of your safety and dimensions.
Once you have everything, it's time to start! You'll take a short walk to warm you up toward the starting point of the experience. You'll gear up, and your instructor will explain the safety measures you'll need to follow in order to have a good time. After an explanation on how to move safely on the skis, how to keep your balance as you glide, and what postures are best to optimise your movements, you'll set off. You'll warm up with a gentle ski excursion toward the main trail, Prestvannet, and your instructor will give you clear guidance to improve your steps.
Midway through this wonderful 2-hour cross-country skiing experience in Tromsø, you'll take a break with a hot drink and snack to regain your strength, and you can take beautiful pictures in the remote landscapes of Northern Norway. On the return journey, if you feel comfortable, you'll be able to face some more challenging terrain, like slightly steeper sections or an extra loop. You'll finish the experience at the same spot where you started it, but with a better understanding of Norway's national sport! Don't forget to come prepared with high-quality winter gear to keep you warm at all times.
