This self-drive dog sledding excursion from Tromsø takes place at Camp Aspemo, situated 60 minutes from the city of Tromsø.

This Self-Drive Dog Sledding Safari begins at the starting point in Tromsø. You will board the shuttle for a 60-minute scenic drive to Camp Aspemo. Sit back, relax, and admire the stunning scenery along the way. Upon arrival, you and your group will be greeted by your experienced instructor who will give you warm winter outerwear and boots to change into. After a safety briefing and an introduction to dog sledding techniques, you'll get to meet the adorable huskies!

Then, the self-drive dog sledding adventure from Tromsø begins! You'll set off into the Arctic wilderness with your team of huskies, taking in the magnificent mountainous landscapes and snow-capped forests as you go. Please note that one person will drive while the other sits in the sled. The trail will take you through breathtaking Arctic landscapes, covering a distance of 3–4 kilometers and an approximate duration of 30 minutes - enough to feel the thrill of driving the sled and create memories for a lifetime! Midway through the excursion, you'll stop for a break for both you and the huskies. At this time, participants can switch places and take turns driving.

Once you've returned to the base, you will warm up in a cozy dining cabin and be treated to a warm coffee, tea, and a delicious traditional
Norwegian cinnamon cake. This is the perfect time to ask your instructor, an experienced musher, any questions you have about huskies, dog sledding, and life in Northern Norway. After saying goodbye to your four-legged friends, you'll return to Tromsø, where the self-drive dog sledding excursion comes to an end.

The activity was amazing, the feeling of peace and tranquility, being at one with your dogs - we had Bruno, Zeus and Trakker. This activity was very organised and informative if you wanted to ask questions. Staff were very happy to talk to you about the dogs while also explaining how the sledge works! a nice warm drink afterwards followed with a stew.

Driving dog sleds in the beautiful Norwegian countryside was an experience I’ll never forget. My teenage sons and I split between 2 sleds and took turns driving and riding. It requires physical fitness and coordination as sometimes you have to help the dogs by pushing the sleds uphill.

Really enjoyed the day overall. The sledding was great and the dogs were fantastic. Enjoyed the food, although would have liked a bit more!
