Course of events
Please allow around 4 hours for the whole experience.
- Pick-up in front of the entrance of the Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromsø, 15 minutes before departure time (paid parking option at Fjellet P-hus (10 minutes walking) or the parking area at Samuel Arnesens Gate 9)
- Transfer by minibus to the Arctic Adventure Tours kennel on Kvaløya (approximately 30 minutes’ drive)
- Arrival at the kennel (toilets available on site), where you will spend roughly 3 hours:
- Fitting of polar insulated suits and boots (hats and mittens are also available if needed)
- Discovery of the kennel and meeting with the dogs
- Briefing on how the activity will take place, safety instructions, and how to drive the sled
- Departure for a 70 to 80-minute dog sledding excursion on Kvaløya, with a few breaks to take photos and to switch between driver and passenger roles
- Back to the kennel, enjoy a snack in a Sami tent with your guide, who will tell you more about the dogs and answer any questions you may have about the activity and the world of mushing
- Changing out of the equipment and final goodbyes to the dogs
- Return transfer by minibus to Tromsø (approximately 30 minutes’ drive) and end of the activity
Activity requirements
No previous experience is required; however, please be advised that participants must be in reasonable physical condition and have the strength to help the dogs pull the sled.
All children must be accompanied by an adult who will drive the sled.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the departure time.

It is possible to make your own way directly to the activity location on Kvaløya. If you choose to do so, please let us know in the email following the booking.
