About the activity

South of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, the Vicdessos cave is known not only for its small underground river but also for its accessibility from the age of 12, for anyone wishing to discover caving in Ariège. The cave is located beneath the Rocher d'Olbier mountain and offers different routes so you can decide whether or not you want to try your hand at a few rope techniques during your experience, of course alongside a state-qualified instructor who will look after your safety while guiding you step by step.

For around 2.5 hours underground, your introduction to caving in the Vicdessos cave will take you to the heart of a canyon where a small river winds its way through black marble providing a magnificent backdrop. Small waterfalls, beautiful galleries and a natural slide at the end of the route will give you and your family and friends an unforgettable caving experience in Val-de-Sos!

Une expérience inoubliable ! Nous avons passé deux heures fantastiques à la découverte du monde souterrain, c’était absolument magique. On ne soupçonne pas la beauté des cavités et parois rocheuses creusées par l’eau sous nos pieds, depuis des millions d’années… balade tout à fait accessible pour des novices que nous étions….

Sortie spéléo des eaux chaudes. On a appris énormément, ça a été une découverte que nous n'oublierons pas entre les explications complètes mais adaptées, l'excursion, l'apprentissage des différentes techniques et la mise en pratique. Alors merci à notre guide et à la super équipe avec qui nous sommes descendus. On reviendra avec plaisir!
