First Dive in Saint-Leu Bay, Reunion Island
Take your first dive in the lagoon of Saint-Leu, west of Reunion Island, and enjoy the local underwater flora and fauna!
Practical information
A 20-minute first dive in Saint-Leu Bay, to a maximum depth of 6 metres.
- Personalised supervision with 1 instructor for 1 diver
- Between 10 and 30 metres of visibility underwater
- Diving in the heart of Reunion Island's marine nature reserve, with its rich underwater fauna and flora (corals, anemones, surgeon fish, trumpet fish, moray eels, etc.)
Course of events
Please allow around 3.5 hours for the whole experience.
- Welcome at the Excelsus diving centre in Saint-Leu, 5 minutes before the start of the activity (free parking around the centre and in town)
- Administrative formalities
- Allocation of materials and equipment in the centre's cabins
- Journey to the port of Saint-Leu in your own vehicle or in a car pool with other participants (approx. 5 minutes / 3 km)
- Boarding the boat
- Navigation to the dive site (5 to 25 minutes, depending on the site) with a briefing on how the first dive will be conducted and safety instructions
- Launch alone with your instructor from the boat's rear platform and finalise your equipment on the water's surface
- Immersion for around 20 minutes, to a maximum depth of 6 metres
- Once back at the surface, you will remove your equipment in the water before returning to the boat for a hot drink
- Sailing back to the port of Saint-Leu (5 to 25 minutes)
- Return journey by car to the dive centre
- Debriefing of the experience with your instructor and opportunity to shower and use the toilet at the end of the activity
Activity requirements
You don't need to be able to swim to take part in this activity.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
You must not have any medical contraindications to taking part in this activity (heart or breathing problems, asthma, epilepsy, etc.). If you have a serious medical history, consult your doctor.
Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the activity.

This activity is not accessible to pregnant people.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
It is possible for accompanying persons who are not participating in the first dive to board the boat, provided there are places available on board on the day of the activity.

You will be accompanied from start to finish by an experienced diving instructor who will help you get kitted out and ensure your safety throughout the activity, allowing you to embark on your adventure with complete confidence.
